Things to Know About Shoe Sizes
Why is the right size so important?
Our feet carry us through life. This is no easy task, which is why we need to take good care of them. Tight shoes can ruin your whole day and, in serious cases, even cause health problems. Prevent this from happening. Choose shoes that fit you like a glove, and you’ll notice just how easily you can actually walk.
Can the size of my foot change?
Yes. Even if you’ve been an adult for a long time, your feet can change over time. Not only can wearing the wrong shoes lead to potential deformities, but feet also simply change as you get older. So it’s never a bad idea to quickly measure your feet again.
When should I measure my feet?
Feet change size quite easily throughout the day and tend to expand. As a result, your feet are often a slightly different size in the morning than they are at noon or in the evening. It’s best to measure your feet at noon or in the evening to determine your actual size. Otherwise, you might buy shoes that fit perfectly in the morning but suddenly start to pinch by evening because your feet have expanded.
Is it enough to measure just one foot?
Feet can vary in length and width. Therefore, it's best to measure both feet before you realize that you might need a completely different size for one foot.
I know my height and width—is there anything else I need to keep in mind?
Keep in mind that socks or stockings will take up space inside your shoes. Especially with boots and ankle boots for the hiking season—but also for the colder months—you should generally go one size larger, since warm socks will naturally fill out the shoe a bit more.
Does the type of leather matter for my shoes?
Yes. Different types of leather also vary in flexibility and softness. Stiffer leather is ideal for shoes that need to be very durable, while softer leathers are better suited for comfort. Deer leather, for example, is considered one of the softest leathers in the world, which is why VITAFORM has chosen to use it to create stylish and comfortable shoes.
